High School Hellcats (1958) Trailer

High School Hellcats

...what must a good girl say to "belong?"

High School Hellcats is an American black-and-white 1958 film about a high school girl gang.

Watch the Trailer!

Joyce Martin is a transfer student at her new school. On her first day, she is seized up by the leader of the Hellcats, Connie. For her first test of initiation, Joyce is tricked into wearing slacks to school even though it is verboten by school policy. During class, the teacher asks Joyce to be the blackboard volunteer. Joyce reluctantly gets up and Miss Davis asks her why she is wearing slacks. Flustered for an answer with the Hellcats looking on, Joyce runs out of the classroom and leaves school premises. She finds her way to a nearby coffeeshop. She meets the coffee shop employee, Mike, a college student who takes night classes, as he must financially support himself.
When she returns home, she receives a call from one of her Hellcats class member where she is lured to the Hellcats hideout in an abandoned movie theater under the premise of a "homework party." There, she is officially introduced to the members of the Hellcats. Connie explains to her the premise of the group: the Hellcats are a girl gang who rule the social order of the school. If she is invited to join, she will be popular; if she fails, her life will be very rough. Joyce has passed the first test but must undergone three in total before initiation. *Wikipedia*

101 Reykjavík (2000) Trailer

101 Reykjavík

30° below zero, five hours of daylight, what else can you do but get wrecked

101 Reykjavík  is a 1996 novel by Hallgrímur Helgason which found international fame in 2000 when made into a film.

Watch the Trailer!

It's easy to emphasise with adolescent apathy when it's 30 degrees below zero, nightfall at four o'clock in the afternoon, and you're knee-deep in greying snow sludge. But at 28 years old, HYLNUR's a little long in the tooth to be making Nintendo, cyber porn and getting wasted his vocation. In addition to successfully resisting employment, adulthood and even an inkling of responsibility, HYLNUR has managed to stave off any committed commingling with the opposite sex -- with the exception of his mother, that is, under whose authority and dotage he still lives. But its amazing how a boy will snap to when he's aroused. Enter LOLA, a spirited Spanish Flamenco teacher and an old friend of his mother. After LOLA and HYLNUR share a drunken one-night stand, Hylnur is mortified to learn that Lola's been making house calls, only she's bypassed his door in favour of his mother's. and to add insult to injured astonishment, the happy couple are expecting their first child. In this off-the-wall, affectionate comedy about sexual confusion and coming of age, Kormakur shares the same droll wit and ribald energy as Fridik Thor Fridriksson and Aki Kaurismaki. Featuring a wonderful soundtrack by Blur singer Damon Albarn and former Sugarcubes member Einar Orn Benediktsson, this is a prodigious debut: a winning slice-of-life tapestry that gives insight not only into its winning characters but into a unique northern youth culture.

 La maman et la putain

The Mother and the Whore (French: La Maman et la Putain) is a 1973 French film directed by Jean Eustache.

Watch the Scene!

The film focuses on three twenty-somethings in an unconventional love triangle in Paris during the summer of 1972. Alexandre (Jean-Pierre Léaud) is an unemployed young man involved with both a live-in girlfriend Marie (Bernadette Lafont) and the Polish nurse Veronika (Françoise Lebrun). He had picked up Veronika at a café after an unsuccessful reconciliation with a former love, Gilberte (Isabelle Weingarten). With Veronika, he begins a desultory affair. Although Marie affirms her indifference to Alexandre's affairs, she quickly changes her mind when she sees how close he becomes to Veronika. This leads to a growing estrangement between her and Alexandre. The film focuses less on plot or narrative than on the confused and ambivalent life style of these three young people in post-May '68 Paris. * Wikipedia*
